Hello, my name is David J. Ulschmid.
I've lived in the midwest my whole life. As a child I knew that I wanted to do two things, work in the electronics field and be a woodworker.
I got my electronics education after high school, so I checked that off my list. My woodworking education started after my wife and I bought our first house.
I quickly became a student of as many woodworking books and magazines I could get my hands on. I found my "true north" in the writings of James Krenov.
I combined his concept of quality consumption with my dedication to self sufficiency and desire to do something good for the environment to form the vision for Wisp Woods:
Quality Consumption using Reclaimed Materials.
It makes me feel good to bring forth the beauty hidden within each piece I work with, and I know that you will appreciate that.
Wisp Woods is where I live out my passion for woodworking. Of course, as stated above, woodworking is only half of my dream life. I express my electronics side at The Lumber Lab. Visit often to see what I've been up to and get your fix of woodworking mixed with electronics.
